Not all vitamins and supplements are created equal. Vitamins and Supplements are not required to be approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). There is very little oversight in quality control and dosage standardization. This can lead to subpar products.
At Compounding Solutions Pharmacy & Wellness, we only stock high quality, pharmaceutical grade vitamins and supplements. This means that what the label says is in the bottle is actually in the bottle! All of our brands undergo quality testing. Our pharmacists can even go through your medication list and help you determine which vitamins and supplements are best for you. They will also make sure that no interactions may occur between your medications and the vitamins/supplements.
Drug Induced Nutrient Depletion
Did you know that many prescriptions can cause you to lose certain nutrients? This is known as drug-induced nutrient depletion. For example, if you are taking an angiotensin II receptor blocker such as losartan or valsartan, it can cause your body to become low in Calcium, Magnesium, and Zinc. Over time these depletions can lead to secondary complications. Our pharmacists can work with you to keep your levels up. Click here for a chart of drug-induced nutrient depletions.
Certain vitamins and supplements can interact with your prescription medications. For example, Vitamin K can prevent Coumadin (warfarin) from thinning the blood and preventing blood clots. Make sure that your doctor and pharmacist know what prescriptions and over-the-counter vitamins and/or supplements you are taking.
