In this article, we will focus on CBD dosing and using our tools for success. CBD can be a very effective supplement when used the correct way. Deciding which form is best for you and trying to find your optimal dosing are part of your keys to success.
When deciding on which product, such as a capsule, oil, or roll-on, you should think about why you are using CBD. Is it for arthritis pain, anxiety or sleep? Based on your answer, our pharmacists can help you choose the best product for what you are trying to treat. For example, if you are experiencing knee pain, a topical product can be used to provide localized relief.
At Compounding Solutions Pharmacy & Wellness, our trained pharmacists have extensive knowledge and tools to address your needs. We offer high-quality products from Ananda Professional and Green Roads CBD. Both offer high quality products that undergo extensive third party testing.
There are multiple dosage forms available to suit everyone's needs. They include:
● Full Spectrum Extract Oil Tincture
● THC-Free Oil Tincture
● THC-Free Capsules
Below you will find our tools for success. These are intended to help you have the best possible outcomes while using CBD. In the toolkit for success, you will find a dermatome map, dosing information, and a dosing journal. PDF versions are available for download.
How do I take CBD?
The best way to find your unique dose is by starting low and slow. Our pharmacists recommend taking 10 mg two hours before bedtime for 3 days. If you experience no relief or improvement in symptoms, you can add 10 mg in the morning (if you do not experience drowsiness) for 3 days. If you are using CBD to help with sleep, add 10 mg to your evening dose rather than adding in a morning dose. If you are using CBD for pain/anxiety, you can shift your dose to the morning only. After 6 days, if needed, a third dose can be added to midday. If you have any questions about dosing, please call us at 912-629-0444, option 3.
How do I know if CBD is working?
We recommend tracking your symptoms using the dosing journal found below to help you find the best dose. This will allow you to see when there are no further improvements in your symptoms so the dose can be adjusted. The dosing journal can also be used a tool to discuss your symptoms and symptom improvements with your doctor and pharmacist.
What is a dermatome?
A dermatome is an area of sensory nerves near the skin that are supplied by a specific spinal nerve root.
A dermatome map is useful for applying topical CBD products. It can help reduce pain at the sight of action. CBD Is applied to the site of pain as well as the coordinating spot along the spinal column. Apply next to the spin and not directly on the spine.
Dosing CBD is finding the "sweet spot" for your body. We recommend starting low and going slow. Start at 10 mg at night for 3 days. If there is no improvement, add 5 mg for a total of 15 mg for 2 evenings. If there is no improvement by the 5th evening, you can keep increasing your dose by 5 mg every 48 hours until you find no greater improvement in relief. Once you get to that point, reduce your dose by 10 mg.
The key to finding your dose is by tracking your symptoms. For example, do you feel like you have fewer aches and pains? You can use the dosing journal to write down your symptoms with a rating from 0-10 severity rating. This will allow to find your precise dose, but can also be used to discuss your symptom(s) with your doctor or pharmacist.
