Nail Fungus

Toenail fungus, or onychomycosis as it is known by medical professionals, is a common problem that podiatrists and other medical professionals treat. It occurs when fungi enters the body through small cracks within the nail or surrounding areas. Sometimes the fungi can also cause fungal infections between the toes, which is more commonly known as "Athlete's Foot." Due to the warm, moist environment in most shoes and socks, fungi can grow and spread.

Symptoms include:

  • Swelling
  • Discoloration of the nail (yellow, brown, or white)
  • Thickening of the nail
  • Crumbling of the nail
  • Streaks or spots down the side of the nail
  • Complete loss of the nail

At Compounding Solutions Pharmacy &Wellness, we can work with your provider to find the best option for you. We have nail solutions that can be applied directly to the nail like nail polish. These topical preparations allow for localized treatment without being metabolized by the liver, so you can avoid the costs of liver enzyme testing.

Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), half of all people with diabetes have some kind of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (nerve damage). This can lead to a loss of sensation in your feet, which can increase your risk of foot problems.

Symptoms include:

  • Tingling
  • Numbness (severe or long-term numbness can become permanent)
  • Burning (especially at night)
  • Pain

Anyone with diabetes can develop nerve damage, but certain factors can increase your risk. Factors include:

  • Blood sugar levels that are hard to manage
  • Having diabetes for a long time, especially if your blood sugar is often higher than your target levels
  • Being overweight
  • Being older than 40 years
  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol

We have topical formulations to help alleviate multiple issues. We can combine multiple ingredients to treat different symptoms. Medications can be added to draw blood into the area to alleviate your symptoms.
